With the solar maximum occurring right now, the Night Images Flickr group (RSS feed at nightpix_flickr_feed) is getting some amazing aurora images. This one, from George Stamets, also captures the ruins of Llanthony Priory in Wales.

Makes total sense. I have an acquaintance who could take a picture of a dirty light switch in an abandoned mental hospital and it would end up as something you’d hang on the wall.
