If you have any interest at all about the process of art restoration, I encourage you to read the breakdown of the process here. Not only does it go into great detail about the process and the decision-making which occurs when restoring a piece such as this (which was altered in the course of its existence many times), it analyzes the work itself and provides a magnificent amount of information about the work's background which helps to contextualize it and give it more meaning.
